MICRONAUT MRSA GP -This product covers key resistances shown by:
Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecium & Enterococcus faecalis and Streptococcus pneumoniae

>Susceptibility testing of Staphylococci • Detection of staphylococcal penicillinases • Detection of MRSA resistance phenotype by MIC determination of oxacillin and cefoxitin • Detection of oxacillin borderline resistance phenotype (BORSA) by detection of cefoxitin susceptibility • Detection of the induced MLSB resistance by erythromycin/clindamycin combination test according to CLSI standard • Test interpretation according to EUCAST and CLSI standard

>Susceptibility testing of Enterococci • Detection of ampicillin resistance • Detection of the phenotypic resistance pattern of vancomycin (VAN A, VAN B) resistant Enterococci by determination of the MIC via teicoplanin and vancomycin • Differentiation between Enterococcus faecium and Enterococcus faecalis by determination of the MIC via Synercid® • Detection of HLAR strains through high-level-resistance testing via gentamicin • Testing of highly effective antibiotics as therapeutic options in case of extreme multi-resistance

> Susceptibility testing of Pneumococci • Detection of non-wild-type penicillin susceptibility • Detection of ceftaroline resistance • Detection of erythromycin resistance • Detection of vancomycin resistance • Detection of group IV quinolones (moxifloxacin) resistance • Testing of highly effective antibiotics as therapeutic options in case of extreme multi-resistance.

MICRONAUT Vancomycin/Teicoplanin Strip - MICs by broth microdilution in-line with EUCAST guidance

MICRONAUT Vancomycin/Teicoplanin Strip - allows MICs for these 2 key antibiotics to be ascertained by broth microdilution in line with EUCAST guidelines in a single strip.

Each strip has doubling dilutions of Vancomycin from 4 > 0.25 mg/L and Teicoplanin from 8 > 0.25 mg/L

The EUCAST breakpoint tables for Staphylococci states:
'Glycopeptide MICs are method dependent and should be determined by broth microdilution.  S aureus with Vancomycin MIC values of 2 mg/L are on the border of the wild type distribution and there may be an impaired clinical response.'

Extracts from a BSAC document
> Disc testing does not detect low‐level resistance (and is unreliable at detecting high‐ level resistance). '

> Gradient strips, when developed, should be calibrated against the ISO broth microdilution method and should therefore give equivalent results. However, slightly higher MICs have been observed with some Gradient Strips.'

> Automated systems struggle to differentiate isolates with MICs around the susceptibility breakpoint. Some systems systematically overcall resistance, while others overcall sensitivity. '

Product Stability
MICRONAUT  M.I.C. strips have a shelf life of 24 months from date of manufacture are vacuum dehydrated

The MICRONAUT Vancomycin/Teicoplanin strip product contains 40 individual tests that are presented in sealed foil pouches, 5 pouches each containing 8 strips.

The strips are stored at ambient temperature for the duration of their shelf life (2 years from date of manufacture) Once an individual pouch of strips is opened the strips should be used within 2 months (return the unused strips to the pouch and re-seal).

This product also requires the MICRONAUT cation adjusted MH broth
