MICRONAUT software & equipment

Picture

Software

MCN7  SOFTWARE IS DESIGNED FOR RAPID READING, CALCULATION AND VALIDATION OF MICRONAUT SYSTEMS

Data Input
All patient data (specimen number, name, data of birth) and test types can be manually administered or imported from the mainframe. The MICRONAUT software generates work lists defining an optimized inoculation procedure.

Susceptibility & Identification
Results, either manually input or downloaded from a photometer (MIC reading) or Maldi (identification). are subjected to scrutiny by 'Expert' rules before a report is issued.

Expert Rules
This portion of the MICROANUT software checks the plausibility of the susceptibility test results. Identification results are compared with typical resistance profiles. In case of discrepancies to the typical profiles, additional tests are recommended for the corresponding isolates. Exceptional and impossible phenotypes can be detected.

Flexible
The MICRONAUT software allows modification of Expert rules by user for individual laboratory requirements. Modifications require permissions and are recorded.  Reports can be customised to suit individual laboratories requirements.

Analysis
Data is stored allowing access to historical performance of quality control organisms.

Minimum hardware requirements
Standard PC with > 300 MHz clock frequency
> 128 MB main memory
> 100 MB free hard disk space

Equipment

ENTRY LEVEL EQUIPMENT GIVES EVERY LABORATORY ACCESS TO GOLD STANDARD BROTH MICRODILUTION SUSCEPTIBILITY TESTING - ISO 20776-1:2006

Whilst Micronaut susceptibility tests can be run manually and read visually significant benefits in terms of speed, accuracy and compliance will be gained with the following;

Electronic 8-channel stepping pipette
An electronic pipettor reduces the workload and improves the accuracy and precision of plate innoculation.  A single fill of the pipette allows 96 wells to be inoculated with up to 8 organisms in under 30 seconds.

Densitometer
A densitometer is needed to achieve the required McFarland standard inoculum.

Photometer

A validated photometer for rapid, accurate and recorded reading is preferred to visual reading.  Our validated photometer can read a 96 well plate in under 6 seconds immediately transferring data to the MCN6 software.
The photometer is equipped with an eight position filter wheel pre-filled with the appropriate filters to cover the various test formats in use.
Tecan Robotics
Tecan and Merlin together developed the Micronaut ASTroID, an automated antimicrobial susceptibility system which greatly reduces hands on time and improves reproducibility. The sample preparation step not only provides inoculum for the antimicrobial susceptibility test (AST) but also prepares the Malditof target plate.
